Maharishi Vedic City: Expansion of population strengthens coherence-creating group effect

The population of Maharishi Vedic City, Iowa, USA, which celebrated its 10th anniversary this summer, has been expanding, and with it the influence of programmes implemented by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi to promote peace and harmony within the city and reduced crime and violence in the nation.
Ten years ago the city's population was approximately 150. Now, according to the last United States census, which took place in 2010, that number has grown to about 1,300.
Maharishi Vedic City councilman Rogers Badgett, who is also founder of the award-winning Maharishi Ayur-Veda spa, The Raj, commented on the 'wonderful feeling' in the city and broader effect being created in collective consciousness, 'with this many people practising Transcendental Meditation and the advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme'—together with a similar group of advanced meditators in 'sister city' Fairfield, Iowa, home of Maharishi University of Management.
The coherence generated by group practice of these technologies of consciousness is magnified by a group of Maharishi Vedic Pandits, he explained.
'We have approximately 900-1,100 Maharishi Vedic Pandits from India that live here in Maharishi Vedic City.' Every day the Pandits practise Transcendental Meditation and also conduct Maharishi Yagya performances.*
Dr Badgett expressed the hope that everyone, whether or not they practise Transcendental Meditation, would have the opportunity to enjoy the 'wonderful experience' of the atmosphere created by the large coherence-creating group.
* Yagyas are ancient precise performances by specially trained Maharishi Vedic Pandits of India, which create specific life-supporting influences for individuals and nations from the field of pure consciousness, the field of total Natural Law.
