18 June 2011
On 17 June 2011, a group of water management professionals from the legendary Dutch Water Boards toured the campus in MERU, Holland. The Water Boards are renowned for having created one of the 'seven wonders of the modern world' to provide Holland with 27 per cent of its land below sea level, where 60 per cent of its people live. The tour group included 90 members of the Boards.
Dr Peter Swan, expert in Vedic Agriculture, addressed the subject of water management in terms of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Vedic Science and technologies of consciousness. He began by explaining the molecular and atomic makeup of water, and went on to describe its composition at the level of quantum physics. Dr Swan presented this discussion in light of the knowledge of the Unified Field of total Natural Law which gives rise to all areas of life in the universe, and which can be directly accessed in human awareness through the practice of the Transcendental Meditation Programme.
Dr Swan also described to the group the concept of a sustainable Garden City, in which water, food, energy and waste are all handled locally. This brought agreement from the water professionals, who cited many examples of this more sustainable type of development in the field of water management.
The tour of MERU by the Dutch Water Boards representatives was one of many conducted there regularly. Over 6,000 people, including teachers, a choir, farmers, retired people, and many others have enjoyed visiting and learning about Maharishi's programmes, Vedic knowledge, and the activities of organizations offering the Transcendental Meditation Programme around the world.
