Based on the principles and practical programmes of Vedic Health Care brought to light by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Maharishi Vedic Health Centre was inaugurated 26 September in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. The inauguration took place in the Health Centre facilities on the MCEE campus on Berasia Road in Bhopal.

Established with the aim of offering 'better health care by virtue of indigenous methods', Maharishi Vedic Health Centre is the largest Vedic health centre in India.

Present at the well-attended inaugural ceremonies were many dignitaries and leading administrators of the project and related programmes, including: Dr Girish Chandra Varma, Chairman of Maharishi Vidya Mandir Schools Group; Dr Harris Kaplan, administrator of Maharishi's programmes in India; Dr T Srinivasa Rao, Director, Maharishi Vedic Health Clinic; Professor Bhuvnesh Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Vedic Vishwavidyalaya; Shree Mahendra Nath Sharma, General Manager; and Pandit Narayan Datt. Dr Rao delivered the opening speech.

Maharishi Vedic Health Centre will provide prevention-oriented Vedic Health Care to healthy individuals and, if needed, Vedic therapies to patients. Vedic Health Care programmes will include consultation and treatment through a wide range of areas of Vedic knowledge, including: Ayurveda, Yoga, Panchakarma (rejuvenation therapy), Rasayanas (herbal preparations), Jyotish (Vedic Astrology) and Yagya, Gandharva Veda (Vedic music), Sthapatya Veda (Vedic architecture), Gems therapy, Aroma therapy, Naturopathy, and chanting of the Veda and Vedic literature (Vedic Sound). Maharishi Vedic Health Centre will also offer courses and will conduct health courses and research on the Indian Vedic Health Care System.

Maharishi Vedic Health Centre has beautifully appointed, luxurious accommodations consisting of 44 single bedrooms and 18 large twin bed suites, all with attached bath. In addition there are 8 consultation rooms, 20 treatment rooms, 18 rooms to rest after treatment, several classrooms, a seminar room, a large conference hall, an audio-visual room, a library with Vedic literature, and a reading room.

There is also a hall designated for daily live recitations from the Vedic literature by Vedic Pandits—a special added feature of Maharishi Vedic Health Centre, Dr Varma said. Facilities also include a hall for practice of Transcendental Meditation and its advanced techniques, including Yogic Flying.

Highly qualified and experienced Vaidyas (expert Ayurvedic physicians), skilled technical, paramedical, and administrative staff are available around the clock to take complete care of every guest. Modern medical specialists/doctors are available for consultation on demand. More staff are continuing to be appointed.

A beautiful garden and colourful fountains are among other attractions of the centre—as well as a modern automatic kitchen, dining hall, gift store, and offices. Twenty-four hour assistance, security, power backup, and internet facility is available in all rooms and common areas. Laundry service is offered, and luxury vehicles are available for pickup and drop off service to and from the airport and railway station.

The Centre's directors say it is designed to provide health benefits to Indians as well as people from all over the world. Inquiries have been coming from many countries.

An agreement between Maharishi Vedic Health Clinic and Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Vedic Vishwavidhyalaya (MMYVV) has been signed in order to offer health-related degree/diploma courses. Dr Varma also mentioned that another health clinic, with 100 large rooms and all modern facilities, is under construction and will be functional in the near future. Shri Arvind Singh Rajpur, Registrar of MMYVV, also spoke, and Shri N D Tiwari delivered a vote of thanks.
