India: Maharishi Ayur-Veda facilities expanding and gaining certifications

Maharishi Ayur-Veda programmes in India are expanding through larger production facilities for authentic Ayurvedic herbal formulations, as well as many new health centres across the country. Maharishi Ayur-Veda production facilities have also received new certifications.

In addition to production facilities certified for organic production, Maharishi Ayur-Veda chemistry lab facilities are also now certified for GLP—Good Laboratory Practises—under the national accreditation board of laboratories in India.

The board is a member of an international board. With their accreditation, any testing and certification by the lab 'will be considered to be on par with any international laboratory which is certified under the international accreditation board', said Dr Anand Srivastava, head of Maharishi Ayur-Veda products in India.

To keep up with growing demand, Dr Srivastava continued, a new production facility is planned with intentions to begin operation in approximately a year. It will have 6-10 times greater capacity and feature the most modern equipment.

Many Maharishi Ayur-Veda health centres have been established in diverse cities across India. The goal, Dr Srivastava said, is to have about 800 such health centres throughout the nation with Vaidyas (expert physicians trained in the approaches of Maharishi Ayur-Veda); Maharishi Ayur-Veda products; and videos offering knowledge of the world's oldest and most complete system of natural health care.
