Drawing on many years of experience with Consciousness-Based Education programmes around the world, the International Foundation of Consciousness-Based Education has created packages of teaching materials and guidelines to make it easy to offer the programme to students of all ages.

Middle and secondary school students have the opportunity to learn the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme and become Yogic Flyers, and create a powerful influence of harmony and coherence in their nation; Maharishi Mahesh Yogi had emphasized offering Consciousness-Based Education to this age group, said Dr Susan Dillbeck, President of the International Foundation of Consciousness-Based Education, speaking on 12 January 2011.

The Foundation offers a one-day seminar on how to start a Consciousness-Based Education school. Attendees include Teachers and practitioners of Transcendental Meditation, Yogic Flyers, parents, educators, and well-wishers. The seminar not only provides practical information, Dr Dillbeck commented, but also gathers a large group all focused on a common goal.

In addition, a packet with detailed information about starting, maintaining, and expanding school programmes has been compiled utilizing the expertise of Transcendental Meditation Teachers who have worked with successful education programmes for many years.

Consciousness-Based Education is implemented in successive stages, Dr Dillbeck continued. After students learn the Transcendental Meditation Programme, and later have the opportunity to learn Yogic Flying, the school can also offer the Science of Creative Intelligence course. A complete course has been prepared including a course overview, main points, class discussion points, and teaching manuals so that the quality is standardized.

Training for teachers is also available, so that all subjects at the school are taught 'in light of the Self', Dr Dillbeck said. In this way, Maharishi explained, 'Students gaining knowledge of any subject will also gain knowledge of the unity of all subjects.'

In the coming days Global Good News will continue to feature Dr Dillbeck's discussion of Consciousness-Based Education.
