Nearly 100,000 students in 30 countries—in North and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East—have learned the Transcendental Meditation Programme through the generosity of the David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace.

The extraordinary achievements and goals of the David Lynch Foundation were presented at a press conference on 3 April 2009, preceding the Paul McCartney benefit concert* on 4 April held at Radio City Music Hall, New York City, USA.

In his introduction to the global press, Dr John Hagelin**, world-renowned quantum physicist, educator, author, science and public policy analyst, and President of the David Lynch Foundation, presented a solution to today's epidemic of stress and stress-related disease to which children are particularly vulnerable—millions of children are medicated for depression and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

The Transcendental Meditation Programme provides children a simple and effective way to combat stress and its damaging effects on health and brain development. It is the most widely practised, extensively researched, and broadly prescribed by doctors of any technique in the world to reduce stress, promote health, and support optimal brain functioning.

The press conference included a short video offering a glimpse of the kinds of transformations this programme makes possible. Global Good News will feature comments from students and teachers utilizing this programme—about how this programme changed their schools and their lives—in the coming days.

The 4 April ''Change Begins Within'' concert in New York, USA was created to raise funds to teach one million at-risk children Transcendental Meditation-giving them life-long tools to overcome stress and violence, and promote peace and success in their lives.

Headlined by Paul McCartney, special guests included Ringo Starr, Sheryl Crow, Eddie Vedder, Ben Harper, Moby, Paul Horn, Bettye LaVette, Donovan, and Jim James.

**Dr John Hagelin is also the Raja of Invincible America for the Global Country of World Peace
