12 October 2007
On 12 October 2007 The Scotsman reported:
The Queen's Hall in Edinburgh, Scotland hosts veteran Scottish singer-songwriter Donovan and legendary filmmaker David Lynch on 26 October. The pair are visiting as part of a UK/Ireland tour to promote the David Lynch Foundation and the benefits of Transcendental Meditation, focusing on how it has influenced their lives and work and how it can be used to improve schools.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of culture.
The Scotsman reported, 'Lynch ... will talk about a book he has written which explains how meditation can curb violence and bullying in schools. He will explain how it has been a part of his life for 30 years.'
The article stated, 'Donovan, who was born in Glasgow as Donovan Leitch, travelled to India in 1968 ... (where he) studied Transcendental Meditation at the retreat of spiritual guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi'. He will be singing his hit songs and showing a short film of his career. Recently Mr Lynch has been travelling across the United States advocating the use of Transcendental Meditation in schools, which is reported to 'boost academic performance, reduce drug use and violent behaviour, and enhance physical and mental well-being', the article stated.
The Scotsman quoted Lynch as saying, 'I think rules about guns being in schools will never stop school violence. (Transcendental Meditation) allows any human being to dive within and experience this deepest level of life.'
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
